Given the diverse regulatory landscape, a comprehensive, well-planned regulatory strategy is essential in the drug development process. An optimal strategy is one which considers relevant regulatory legislation and guidelines for the therapeutic area of interest and/or type of product. Developing a strategy is not a ‘once and done’ exercise but an ongoing process that is consistently reviewed to ensure that the development remains aligned with business and commercial priorities; risks are minimised when possible and the most appropriate regulatory pathways are used.
